BASE Site Leader Department: Recreation/BASE

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Pay Range: $17.00 - $20.00/hour DOQ

Supervisor: Reports to BASE Manager & BASE Supervisor

Position Summary: The Site Lead is responsible for the overall management and supervision of the BASE program site. This includes planning and implementing activities, ensuring safety and well-being of students, and overseeing staff members. The Site Lead serves as the primary contact for parents and school administration/faculty, ensuring that the program runs smoothly and meets the needs of the students.


Program Management:
• Plan and implement a variety of activities that are engaging, educational, and age appropriate.
• Create & maintain daily schedules, routines, class lists and student tracking forms.
• Overall responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the program.
• Communicate and interact with parents/guardians
• Resolve concerns of parents or staff in day-to-day events and general program opportunities

Supervision
• Supervise, train, and support staff members.
• Ensure proper staff-to-student ratios at all times.
• Ensure staff are clocking in and out daily.
• Make staffing recommendations

Student Interaction
• Create a positive, inclusive and safe environment for all participants.
• Address & manage behavioral issues and conflicts effectively.
• Foster positive relationships with students and their families.

Communication
• Acts as the main point of contact for parents/guardians.
• Communicate regularly with appropriate school faculty and direct supervisors
• Prepare and submit information for monthly newsletters and other communications to direct supervisor.
• Communicate in positive and professional manner.

Administrative Tasks
• Maintain accurate records, including attendance, class lists, daily student tracking forms, accident/incident forms and other relevant information.
• Ensure compliance with all Park District and school district policies and procedures.
• Create and submit snack and supply lists to direct supervisor.
• Pick-up necessary supplies, equipment and snacks from Recreation Center.
• Must attend all required meetings.
• Implement and enforce health and safety procedures and policies.
• Ensure the facility and equipment are clean, safe and in good working condition.

Essential Functions of the Position:
1. Physiological Requirements: Able to perform a variety of activities that may require, but not limited to, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, kneeling, squatting, walking, climbing, talking, reaching, and bending. Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
2. Environmental Requirements: Able to work in moderate heat, wind, sunlight, humidity, snow, and temperatures as low as 40 degrees when outdoors for program.
3. Cognitive Requirements:
* Must be able to follow direction and perform job functions as described.
* Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Must have ability to handle multiple tasks.
* Must possess good problem-solving skills.

Qualifications 
High School Diploma required with coursework in Education, Child Development, or related field preferred. Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with children in an educational or recreational setting. Previous supervisory or leadership experience required. Must be CPR/First Aid/AED certified or ability to obtain upon hire. Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to handle stressful situations and ability to resolve conflicts effectively.
