About Us

Owner Martin Lynch, a native of Athenry, Co. Galway, Ireland, brings a big slice of his homeland to Chicago. The Irish Times is a pub where modern amenities rub shoulders with age-old Irish tradition. It has a proud history of its own - it was previously owned by Lynch's uncle Martin Cosgrave, who created the pub in 1991. Lynch took over the business in 2008 determined to expand the premises while remaining faithful to his vision of the quintessentially ''Irish'' pub - a place that people would travel to from miles around; a place for friends, music, food and good times.

With that in mind, you'll find genuine Irish whiskeys, ales and beers (and faces) behind the bar, and also a business with a big recycling programme, commitment to efficient gas and electric usage and a dedication to sourcing as much local produce as possible (including beers from local craft breweries). These ingredients are used in classic, home-made favorites such as corned beef and cabbage, shepherd's pie and fish & chips, all from family recipes.

With their Cozy Cottage and extensive patio, The Irish Times is fully equipped for your unforgettable private party or event - now with a state-of-the-art Bose sound system to create the perfect soundtrack, and a projector for meetings. The Cosgrave Room is also perfect for social gatherings - it has its own handicap accessible entrance, washrooms and entrance to the Old World Beer Garden.

The Irish Times is a true destination pub; the perfect place to catch up with old friends and make new ones.
